Where do gear values come from?

Gear Inventory

Add, edit, and organise your gear. Track weight, price, condition, photos, and reference videos for every item you own.

  • Adding gear items with weight, price, brand, and condition

Importing Your Existing Gear

Migrate from a spreadsheet, a webpage, or a packing list document. Use the CSV template for direct upload or let AI extract gear from any source.

  • Download the CSV template, fill in your gear, and re-upload — works on every plan, no AI cost
  • Import from a URL (eligible plans) — paste a packing list or product page and the AI extracts gear into a preview before saving
  • Import from a file (eligible plans) — upload CSV, TXT, HTML, PDF, DOC/DOCX, or XLSX and the AI parses it for you
  • Always shows you a project → kit → gear preview before anything is created — confirm or cancel
  • All AI imports stream progress in real time, support up to 200 items at once, and are charged from your AI allowance

Teams & Collaboration

Create teams, invite members, and coordinate gear across your group. Link teams to projects for streamlined planning.

AI Assistant

Your AI-powered gear advisor. Available on every page — build kits, analyse loadouts, find alternatives, and plan entire projects through conversation.

  • Open the AI assistant from the floating AI button available throughout the app
  • From one place, the assistant can create gear, kits, and projects, update lists, analyse loadouts, and help plan trips
  • Bulk operations: ask it to add many items in one go — it batches them into a single tool call instead of looping
  • Data source controls: toggle My Data, Community, AI Knowledge, and Web Search independently. Community includes public community content and Gearlogue reference examples where relevant.
  • Web search (eligible plans): the AI can look up current gear specs, prices, and reviews from the web when you enable it
  • Ask it to analyse your kit, find lighter alternatives, or suggest missing essentials
  • Build entire projects conversationally — the AI proposes kits, waits for your confirmation, then populates them
  • Quick actions: 'Analyse List' and 'Find Alternative' on kit pages
  • If you ask it to attach a video to a new gear, kit, or project, it will only use a YouTube/Vimeo URL you've actually pasted into the chat — it never invents URLs or sources them from the web
  • Memory: tell the AI to always remember a preference — it persists across sessions
  • Start a new session at any time to reset context while preserving your conversation history
  • Current AI usage and any prepaid balance are shown on the AI button and the AI Credits page

Search & Discovery

Discover public kits, projects, gear, and users from the community. Search uses hybrid keyword and semantic matching.

Profile & Friends

Set up your public profile, manage friends and followers, verify your social accounts, and control what others can see.

  • Adding a bio, location, and preferred activities to your profile
  • Picking an optional username — needed only if you add friends or invite teammates by username
  • Adding friends by username or email — mutual friendship unlocks auto-sharing
  • Following users to see their public content in your feed
  • Field-level visibility controls for your profile

  • Verify supported social accounts (currently YouTube, TikTok, and X) to display platform badges on your public profile

Creator Programme

Recognition for users who build a following and share high-quality public content. Eligible creators unlock a verified badge, extra profile fields, and a dashboard with engagement analytics.

  • Automatic eligibility — no application, no manual review. The moment you cross the follower and public-item thresholds, your Creator page unlocks and the verified badge appears.
  • Check your progress at /creator — the locked-state panel shows exactly how close you are to each threshold.
  • Verified creator badge displayed on your public profile and feed cards.
  • Add social links (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X) and a promo link to your public gear listings — helpful for sending viewers to your channel, shop, or affiliate.
  • Creator dashboard shows total views, likes, saves, and shares across all your public kits and projects, broken down per item — updated in real time as the community engages.
  • Verified badges currently support YouTube, TikTok, and X. Instagram links can still be shown on your public profile even when verification is unavailable.
  • Verify supported social accounts via OAuth to display platform badges alongside your creator profile. Gearlogue never stores passwords or long-lived tokens.

Support & Feedback

Send questions, bug reports, feature requests, and general feedback from the app or the public contact page.

  • Use the sidebar footer's Send feedback button when you're signed in to submit bugs, feature requests, feedback, or other reports.
  • You can attach up to 5 optional screenshots, 10MB each. Attachments must be images and are stored privately for support review.
  • Feedback screenshots automatically expire after 90 days; report text and triage notes are kept only as long as needed to investigate and improve the service.
  • Use the Contact page for account, billing, privacy, takedown, or pre-signup questions. The public contact form is protected by reCAPTCHA to reduce spam.

Subscription & Billing

Gearlogue offers Free, Pro, and Team tiers. Upgrade for larger allowances, imports, exports, web search, and team ownership features.

  • Current plan pricing and limits are shown on the Pricing page and in Settings → Subscription
  • Free tier: core gear, kit, project, sharing, photo + video attachments, and AI features with tighter limits
  • Pro tier: larger AI allowance, web search, AI imports (URL + files + spreadsheets), AI credit top-ups, monthly spend cap, and data export
  • Team tier: team creation and ownership, collaboration tools, and higher limits
  • AI usage and any prepaid balance are shown on the floating AI button and the AI Credits page (Settings → AI Credits)
  • Pro and Team users can purchase prepaid AI credits to cover usage beyond the included monthly allowance and set their own monthly spend cap
  • Annual billing may be discounted — see the Pricing page for the current figure
  • Data export (eligible plans): download your full gear, kits, and projects as JSON
  • Manage billing, invoices, and cancellation through the Stripe customer portal

Privacy & Data

Your data is yours. Export everything, delete your account, and control what's public.

  • Export all your data as JSON from Settings → Profile (eligible plans)
  • Delete your account permanently from Settings → Profile
  • Browser local storage is used for authentication and preferences (not tracking cookies)
  • Contact and signup forms use reCAPTCHA for spam and abuse prevention
  • No advertising trackers; optional cookie-free web analytics measures aggregate usage
  • AI conversations auto-delete after 90 days

How the AI Uses Your Data

Plain-language summary of what the AI assistant sees, stores, and never does with your data.

  • What it sees when you chat: the messages you send, your profile preferences (weight unit, currency), and — depending on your enabled data sources — your gear, kits, and projects.
  • If Community is enabled, the assistant may use public community items and Gearlogue reference examples; it does not treat them as your private inventory.
  • What gets stored: your conversation history is saved on Gearlogue's own infrastructure so the AI can remember context across messages. If you ask it to remember a preference, that preference may also be stored for future sessions.
  • Your data is never used to train AI models. Gearlogue uses Amazon Bedrock (Anthropic Claude) as the model provider; Bedrock does not train on customer prompts or completions.
  • Web search is opt-in. When enabled, the AI sends your search query to a web search provider to fetch public results.
  • Deletion: conversations auto-delete after 90 days. You can also start a fresh session any time from the AI panel, and deleting your account permanently removes your stored conversations and gear data.
  • Memory: if you tell the AI to 'always remember' a preference, you can later ask it to forget that preference or remove it by deleting your account.
